شهدت العصور الوسطى، وهي الفترة
التي تميزت بالقلاع والفرسان والحروب
الصليبية ، وجود شخصيات تركت بقسوتها وغرابة أطوارها بصمة لا تمحى في
التاريخ.
وهناك حياةُ خمسة رجال
أصبحوا ، بسبب خطورتهم وغرابتهم، أساطير مظلمة في عصرهم.

فلاد الثالث المخوزق( دراكولا) :
-------------------------
يشتهر أمير "والاشيا" في القرن الخامس عشر ، المعروف باسم (فلاد
دراكولا) بأسلوبه الوحشي في التخوزق، وهي تقنية استخدمها لمعاقبة أعدائه وردع
الغزاة.
ويُقال أنه كان
يستمتع بتناول الطعام
بين الجثث المخوزقة وأن وحشيّتَه
لا تعرف حدودًا.
ألهمت قسوتُه الشخصيةَ الأدبية لمصاص الدماء دراكولا، التي ألّفَها( برام
ستوكر).

جيل الرايس :

تحوَّل (جيل دي رايس) ، النبيلُ
الفرنسي وشريك (جان دارك)، من بطل
حرب إلى أحدِ
أكثر القتلة المتسلسلين شهرة في التاريخ.
اتُهم باختطاف وتعذيب
وقتل أكثر من
100 طفل ، وظهرت جرائمه إلى النور
عام 1440، مما أدى إلى القبض عليه وإعدامه.
إنَّ حجمَ وطبيعةَ فظائعِه
تجعله شخصية مرعبة
من
شخصياتِ العصور الوسطى.

هنا المنبوذ (هيريوارد) :
حارب هذا الأنجلوسكسوني المتمرد، المعروف باسم Hereward the Outcast، ضد الغزو النورماندي لإنجلترا بقيادة ويليام الفاتح.
حياته ملفوفة بالأساطير التي تصفه بأنه محارب شرس وسيّد التخفّي والخداع.
أصبح هيريوارد شخصية رمزية في المقاومة ضد الهيمنة الأجنبية ، حيث مزج
الشجاعة بالعنف كأجزاء متساوية.

إزيلينو الثالث الروماني :

حكم هذا الطاغية الإيطالي في القرن الثالث عشر بقبضة حديدية وسَادية
تركت بصمةً لا تُمحَى
على منطقة "فينيتو".
استخدم إيزيلينو الثالث، المعروف بقسوته، الرعب للحفاظ على السيطرة،
ونفَّذَ الكثير من المجازر والتعذيب.
كان مشهوراً بقسوته
الكبيرة جداً ، لدرجة أن
(دانتي)
الشاعر الإيطالي الشهير،وضعه في الجحيم في مسرحيته "الكوميديا الإلهية".

إيفان الرابع الرهيب :

على الرغم من أن عهدَه بدأ من الناحية الفنيّة في عصر النهضة ، إلا أن (إيفان
الرابع) ملك روسيا، المعروف باسم إيفان الرهيب، يستحق مكانًا في هذه القائمة بسبب
إرثه الإرهابي.
قيصر روسيا الأول ، اتَّسمت
حكومتُه بالتوسُّع الإقليمي والقمع الوحشي
لأعدائه.
وصل جنونُ العظمةِ والعنفِ
لديهم إلى أعلى مستوياتِه على الإطلاق مع
إنشاء"أوبريتشنينا"، وهي شُرطة سرّية مُكلَّفةٌ بالقضاءِ على معارضيه
بلا رحمة.

The Middle Ages, a time
marked by castles, knights and crusades, also witnessed the existence of
figures who, for their cruelty and eccentricity, left an indelible mark on
history. Next, we'll explore the lives of five men who, by their peril and
strangeness, became dark legends of their time.
**1. Vlad III the Impalator**
Known as Vlad Dracula, this
fifteenth-century prince of Wallachia is famous for his brutal impaling method,
a technique he used to punish his enemies and deter invaders. It is said that
he enjoyed dining among the impaled bodies and that his sadism knew no bounds.
Her cruelty inspired the literary figure of the vampire Dracula, created by
Bram Stoker.
**2. Gilles of Rais**
French nobleman and
partner-in-arms of Joan of Arc, Gilles de Rais went from war hero to one of the
most notorious serial killers in history. Accused of kidnapping, torturing and
murdering more than 100 children, his
crimes came to light in 1440,
resulting in his capture and execution. The magnitude and nature of his
atrocities make him a terrifying figure of the Middle Ages.
**3. Hereward the Outcast**
Known as Hereward the
Outcast, this rebellious Anglo-Saxon fought against the Norman invasion of
England led by William the Conqueror. His life is wrapped in legends that
describe him as a fierce warrior and a master of stealth and deception.
Hereward became an emblematic figure in the resistance against foreign
domination, blending bravery and violence in equal parts.
**4. Ezzelinus III of Roman**
This 13th-century
Italian tyrant ruled with an iron fist and a sadism that left an indelible mark
on the Veneto region. Known for his cruelty, Ezzelino III used terror to
maintain control, carrying out massacres and tortures. His fame for
ruthlessness was such that even Dante Alighieri placed him in Hell in his play
"The Divine Comedy."
**5. Ivan IV, the Terrible**
Although his reign
technically began in the Renaissance period, Ivan IV of Russia, known as Ivan
the Terrible, deserves a place on this list for his legacy of terror. First
Tsar of Russia, his government was characterized by territorial expansion and a
brutal repression of his enemies. Their paranoia and violence reached its all-time
high with the creation of the Oprichnina, a secret police commissioned to
ruthlessly eliminate its opponents.
These five men represent the
darkest and most violent side of the Middle Ages, a time that, although full of
breakthroughs and splendors, also housed figures whose cruelty and eccentricity
defy the imagination. Their stories serve as a reminder of the extremes human
nature can reach in times of conflict and unmeasurable power.
